Hayate no Gotoku! Cuties Episode 9 aired on June 10th 2013.

Synopsis

At the top of the Hakuou Academy clock tower, Chiharu Harukaze is doing a speech pattern from her favorite novel and gets caught unguarded by Aika. Aika says that side of her is cute. Chiharu believes there are others who are more unguarded than herself, include Hinagiku. She found out that Nagi, Izumi, Yukiji, Miki and Risa are totally unguarded. But she feels sorry about what she thought before when she found out that Hinagiku isn't unguarded. Chiharu end up at a game center with Nagi and due to their common interests both become unguarded.

Later, Chiharu asks Nagi to throw a barbecue party for the tenants, and she has Hayate give her grocery shopping assistance. Chiharu found out while shopping with him that Hayate is the kind of guy that the girls will like. She questions Hayate about what he'd do if a girl confesses to him. But Hayate gives a serious answer that she didn't expect. Ruka arrives at the Violent Mansion as she accepted Chiharu’s invitation. Ruka asks Ayumu if Hayate would become her boyfriend after her confession even if it means kissing him, which irritates Ayumu. Ayumu then tells her something to make Ruka stop thinking about confessing. As Hayate and Chiharu return, Ruka asks him the same question as Chiharu. Hayate responds to Ruka and Ayumu that Chiharu just asked him, but they misunderstood it that Hayate didn't accept her feelings. Both Ayumu and Ruka try to cheer Chiharu up but she become confused instead.

While everyone is celebrating the barbecue, Kayura Tsurugino is eating the kebabs and making weird remarks. This makes Nagi and Hayate think back to when they first met Kayura when she was pitching up a tent. Then they think back to when Kayura went to Hakuou Academy for the first time. In a flashback after Kayura rented a room at the apartment, she enrolls as a transfer student. She trys to make Hayate surprised but failed because he already met a lot of Hakuou's student including Nagi who also skipped grades like Kayura. Hayate and Nagi gladly give her a tour around the campus. Hayate takes her to the tram that never got used in the story except the battle scene and the drunken teacher. Then Kayura asks them to take her to the clock tower and Hayate casually shows them Hinagiku changing. Back in the present, after the barbecue and the tenants go to their rooms, Kayura states that you should not take your instant feelings too seriously. Hayate accidentally sees Hinagiku changing again. Prompting them to say that Hayate is the one who is most unguarded.
