Hayate no Gotoku! OVA Vol.A (ハヤテのごとく OVA Vol.A, Hayatenogotoku! ovu~a Vol.A^?) is the first OVA of the Hayate no Gotoku! 10^th anniversary OVAs. This OVA was bundled with the release of the limited edition of Volume 41 on June 18^th 2014.

Differences in the Manga

Chapter 161

• In the anime Nagi watches at the beginning of this episode, the character Todoroki Jirou is defeated by a group called the four heavenly RC kings. In the manga, he is defeated by the Egyptian RC emperor.
• After the anime Nagi was watching had ended, Hayate and Maria comment on Nagi's usual behavior as they sat on a couch behind her. This is not present in the manga.
• During the commercial for Todoroki Jirou's new "super beast magnum-X" RC car, Jirou is shown confronting the four heavenly RC kings with his new RC car. In the manga, he only confronted the Egyptian RC emperor.
• Afterwards, as Hayate and Maria comment on how the commercial spoiled the events in the anime series Nagi was watching, they are both shown to be sitting on a couch behind Nagi. In the manga, they where standing.
• As Nagi was ordering the new RC car on Amazon, her laptop is shown to be without a logo. In the manga, her laptop had a Vaio logo.
  • Additionally, Nagi is shown to be wearing a shirt with nothing on it. In the manga, her shirt had a "Let's Go!" logo on it.
• After ordering another RC car, Nagi mentions that she was going to buy a new game and a few Blu-ray box sets. In the manga, Nagi mentions buying DVDs and a few newly released games.
• After Nagi had received her package from Amazon, the caption noting that she had received it within one hour from ordering it is not present in this OVA.
• After Maria had asked Sakuya when she had arrived, Sakuya tells her that she came after "Beast Magnum" was called. This is not present in the manga.
• Additionally, Sakuya's outfit was altered. In this OVA, Sakuya wore an unzipped orange, blue and white hoodie over a blue T-shirt, a white skirt, white over the knee socks and orange sneakers. In the manga, Sakuya wore a hoodie dress and black boots.
• As Hayate was showing how the reissued grasshopper RC car can reignite passion in people to Nagi, the grasshopper RC car is shown to have the number 35 on the front of it. In the manga, the number was only shown on it's sides.
• After having went to bed, Nagi mutters the line "geez, to hell with grasshopper" in her sleep. This is not present in the manga.
• During the beginning of her dream, as Nagi was complaining about the grasshopper RC car, she is shown to be rubbing the spot on her leg where she had ran the RC car into earlier. In the manga, Nagi was sitting on the clouds and complaining about the RC car.
• While the grasshopper RC car was making poses as it was telling Nagi that it was too early to give up, Nagi tells him to stop baring his legs at her. This is not present in the manga.
• As Nagi was rushing to Hayate, after she had woken up, Hayate is shown to be cleaning a counter next to a telephone. In the manga, he was sweeping.
• While practicing using the RC car with Hayate, Nagi is shown sitting on a small stair case leading to a window. In the manga, she was sitting on a small cabinet.
• The following day, much to his surprise, Hayate notices Maria playing with the super beast magnum-X RC car. In the manga, he notices that she had just finished building it.

Chapter 267

• Hinagiku's outfit as she discovered that she now had donkey ears was slightly altered. In this OVA, the collar and sleeves on Hinagiku's pajamas had frills. In the manga, she wore a plain long sleeved T-shirt.
• During Hinagiku's flashback to the events of her confrontation with King Midas' monsters, Isumi, General Jark (Yukiji) and penguin suit Ayumu are shown to be present in the battle. In the manga, only Isumi was present.
  • Additionally, in this OVA, Isumi is shown to be free. In the manga, Isumi was being held by King Mida's right hand.
  • Also, Isumi was shown to be wearing rabbit ears. This isn't present in the manga.
• Having gone to the Saginomiya residence for help, Hinagiku consults Isumi and Sakuya about her problem. In the manga, she only consulted Isumi.
  • Additionally, Hinagiku, Isumi and Sakuya are shown to be sitting at a table. In the manga, Hinagiku and Isumi sat on the floor.
• After Hinagiku told Isumi and Sakuya that wearing a baseball cap wouldn't solve her problem, Isumi is shown to be wearing the baseball cap as Hinagiku said she wanted a solution for the root of her problem. This is not present in the manga.
• After having been questioned about her baseball cap by the Hakuo Three Amiga, Hinagiku tells them that she has been wearing it while anticipating that bass would hit a home run, to which Izumi tells her that the hat suits her and at that rate bass would surely be hitting many more home runs. This is not present in the manga as Izumi wasn't present.
• Later as Isumi and Sakuya discuss the price of Haagen-Dazs ice cream, Sakuya is shown to be wearing a closed vest over her shirt. In the manga, she is shown without a vest.

Special Chapter - Limited 2

• After Izumi had offered Hayate a place to stay for the night, she tells him that her father is really nice, causing Hayate to sense a bad omen. This is not present in the manga.

Trivia

• The narrator is back to the series in this OVA since his last appearance in Hayate no Gotoku! Season 1 and Hayate no Gotoku!! 2nd Season.
• The character "Todoroki Jirou" from the anime series Nagi, Hayate and Maria were watching bares a strong resemblance to Yonkuro Hinomaru from the series Dash! Yonkuro.
  • The text "3LDK" is shown on Jirou's headband. This refers to the Japanese Apartment Layout which is also a dream of Hayate's.
• After having seen a commercial for the new "super beast magnum-X" RC car, Nagi orders it from a website called Amaz*n. This is a reference to the online retailer Amazon.
  • Also, the X in the logo of the "super beast magnum-X" is a reference to the logo of After War Gundam X.
• After Nagi had opened her package from Amaz*n, both the RC cars inside the package are labeled with a TAMAYA logo. This is a parody of the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya.
  • Also, the logo of TAMAYA is a picture of 2 fireworks. This is reference about the Japanese's culture that the people will shout Tamaya (たまや～, Tamaya^?) in the firework festival.
  • Additionally, the video game shipped in Nagi's package is seen with a SP3 logo. This is a parody of the PlayStation 3 logo.
• The Grosshopper RC car name is a parody of the Grasshopper RC Car created by Tamiya.
• After Hinagiku had gone to Isumi for help on dealing with her donkey ears, Hinagiku is handed a baseball cap featuring a logo of the Japanese baseball team the Hanshin Tigers.
• After the Hakuo Three Amiga questioned Hinagiku about the baseball cap she was wearing, Hinagiku tells them that she was anticipating that Bass would hit a home run. This is a reference to the former Hanshin Tigers player Randy Bass.
• At the Saginomiya residence, Isumi and Sakuya discuss the price of an ice cream called Häagen ****. This is a reference to the ice cream brand Haagen-Dazs.
• King Midas' apperance in the ending with Athena on his head greatly resembles the Wily Capsule from the classic Mega Man/Rockman games.
